How Chinese Medicine

Understands Your Health

Chinese Medicine approaches health by looking at the body as one interconnected system. It doesn’t just focus on where the pain is or what symptom is showing —but looks at why it’s happening and what else it might be connected to.

Treating the Root and the Branch (Ben–Biao)

In Chinese Medicine, we talk about Ben (root) and Biao (branch).

  • Biao (branch): The symptoms you feel—like pain, fatigue, poor sleep, or digestive issues.

  • Ben (root): The underlying imbalance or dysfunction that’s causing those symptoms.

For example, frequent headaches might be the branch, but the root could be related to emotional stress, hormonal imbalances, or digestion. Treatment works to relieve the symptoms while also addressing the deeper cause — so results are longer lasting.

Pattern Differentiation (Bian Zheng)

Two people might have the same diagnosis, but in Chinese Medicine, no two treatments are exactly alike.

  • We assess the pattern behind your symptoms through detailed questioning, pulse and tongue diagnosis, and observation.

  • This helps us identify your specific imbalance—not just your condition’s name.

Instead of applying a one-size-fits-all solution, treatment is designed based on your body’s unique presentation and how it responds over time.

A Whole-Person Approach

Symptoms rarely exist in isolation. Chinese Medicine takes into account:

  • Your sleep, digestion, energy levels

  • Stress, emotional patterns, lifestyle

  • How your symptoms interact with each other

This broader view helps build a treatment plan that not only relieves discomfort but supports better overall function—so you can get back to living life with more comfort and clarity.

The first step is always the hardest.
